BID AWARD

Corunna Public Schools reserves the right to make bid award to the bidder or bidders whose item or items is, in the opinion of the Board of Education, the best suited for use and the best value for the amount expended. The Board of Education will not necessarily be bound by the lowest bid. Corunna Public Schools retains the right to accept or reject any or all bids. See the additional requirements below.

LEGAL NOTICE

***PLEASE NOTE BID DELIVERY ADDRESS:  Sealed bids will be received at Corunna Public Schools Superintendent’s Office, 124 North Shiawassee Street, Corunna, MI 48817

These bid materials must be sealed in an envelope plainly marked “BUS GARAGE” showing the bidder’s name. Bids will be received until 1:00 pm on Friday, May 29, 2020. We will not accept nor consider late bids. Bids will be opened and read aloud virtually at 1:30 pm in the Superintendent’s Office,  124 North Shiawassee Street, Corunna, MI 48817, Friday, May 29, 2020. Each bid shall be accompanied by a sworn and notarized familial affidavit. A bid bond of 5% is required. All bidders are welcome to join the bid opening virtually.

MINIMUM SPECIFICATIONS

  • Remove existing metal roofing from the entire roof

  • Install new 2x4 pine boards across rafters next to existing purlins to ensure a good fastening of new steel

  • Install vertical 2x4 ties from top of existing trusses to bottom of trusses (as needed)

  • Install 26-gauge white steel classic ribbed (pole barn style) to the whole roof with all accessories, eave trims, gable trims, valley pans and caps

  • Install new flashing at 18” chimney and install one pipe boot

  • Install new fascia boards as needed where rotted

  • Install new 12” aluminum soffit and 10” fascia to building

  • Install new 6” aluminum gutter at all eaves with 10 downspouts

  • Remove and haul away all debris

  • Secure any necessary permits

 These instructions shall form a part of all bid specifications.

  1. Bidders may contact Superintendent John Fattal via email (jfattal@corunna.k12.mi.us) to set up a time to view/tour the existing bus garage in need of renovation.

  1. Bidders should exercise care in bidding equivalent items. Complete descriptive literature must accompany equivalent bids. Samples will be requested if necessary.

  1. Where it shall be deemed necessary by school officials, the successful bidder shall be prepared to provide instruction in the use and care of equipment delivered in both written form and on a demonstration basis.

  1. Each group of items or individual items, if classified in this way, shall constitute a separate bid. The Board of Education, however, may accept a combined bid for all items bid by one bidder.

  1. All bids shall be exclusive of applicable excise taxes. Exemption forms will be executed when necessary.

  1. All bids shall be submitted in sealed envelopes clearly marked with the words "Bid Opening", the date and time of bid opening, the equipment bid, and the name of the bidder.

  1. In the event of discrepancies between the unit price and extension, the unit price shall prevail.

  1. The manufacturer’s written guarantees shall accompany each bid. Bidders may state in writing, additional guarantees which will become a part of the bid and considered in making awards.

  1. Where applicable, service facilities and convenience of service will be considered as part of the bid. When necessary, bidders shall submit evidence of the ability to install adequately, service, or supply the required items, and that the sale or provision of such items or services is a substantial, regular, and continuous part of the bidder's business.

  1. Where applicable, bidders shall certify that all relevant Federal, State and local laws have been complied with.

  1. Performance bonds and necessary insurance certificates shall be supplied only when specifically requested.

  1. No order awarded under these specifications, or any part thereof, shall be sublet or assigned without the written approval of Superintendent.

  1. The bidder acknowledges that by submitting a bid, the specifications and other instructions are in the bidder's opinion, appropriate and adequate for the intended purpose.

The Board of Education reserves the right to:

  1. Reject any or all bids without assigning any reason, therefore; 

  1. Be the sole judge of equivalency;

  1. Waive any bid requirement in accepting or rejecting bids
