Dave Harvey, a 1967 graduate of Corunna High School, dedicated his life to athletics, coaching, teaching, and community service. A multi-sport athlete, he earned 13 varsity letters across football, basketball, baseball, and track. Highlights include All-Conference honors in baseball (11th and 12th grade), MVP and captain recognition in his senior year, and All-Conference and team captain honors in football. He also was part of a 4x440 relay track record. Harvey coached CHS athletes for 45 years in football (42 years), baseball (30 years), basketball (32 years), and track (12 years). As a teacher, he served Corunna schools for 42 years. A highly regarded ASA softball player and umpire, he played ASA FastPitch for 20 years, competing on some of the Midwest’s top teams and winning multiple district and regional titles. Harvey umpired for 30 years, including 12 years with the MHSAA, and officiated three state finals (2002, 2008, and 2012). A dedicated volunteer, he is an honorary member of Corunna FFA and NHS, and was named Volunteer of the Year by Corunna VFW in 2019 and Community Citizen of the Year by Burns Grange in 2011. He also served on the Corunna Softball Association Board for 25 years, including 7 as president, and has donated generously to Corunna Public Schools and the community through "Cookies for a Cause" via Harvey Cookies.

Stanley Bocek, a 1942 graduate, was a standout athlete who earned 8 varsity letters - 4 each in football and track. He served as President of the Varsity Club and excelled in football as a 4-year player, earning All-League Fullback honors in 1941 and contributing to league championship teams in 1938 and 1939. In track, Bocek was a 4-time state qualifier and a 3-time Class C State Champion in shot put, setting a state record of 49’ 2” in 1941. He won state titles in 1940, 1941, and 1942, and held the school record in shot put at 50'10.5” for several years. He was one of only 9 boys in state history to win 3 state titles in the shot put. His track team won the 1941 regional championship and placed 5th in the state. After graduation, he was recruited by Michigan State University for track, but he returned home to work on the family farm when his three older brothers left for military service.

The 1999 Corunna Boys Track and Field Team secured the Class B State Championship with 45 points at the state meet completing back to back efforts with the 1998 team! They captured state titles in both the 4x800 and 4x400 relays, while earning All-State honors in 6 events. The team also triumphed as Regional and undefeated Conference Champions under the leadership of Head Coach Gordie Aldrich, and Assistant Coaches Steve Herrick and Jeff McDonald.

The 1966 Corunna Football team had an outstanding 9-0 undefeated season. They dominated their opponents, outscoring them by a massive 292-40 margin! The team was led by Corunna Hall Fame Head Coach Nick Annese and Assistant Coaches Matt Rumisek, Keith Elkins, and Jeff Hudson.

1966 Football Team
The 1998 Boys Track & Field Team had a remarkable season, winning the Class B State Championship! They achieved All-State performances in 11 events. The Cavs won Regionals and the MITCA State Championship led by Coach Chris Curtiss and Assistants Steve Herrick & Gordie Aldrich.

Welcome to Cavalier Country!
Corunna High School Athletic Hall of Fame will be honoring the Class of 2024 on Friday, December 13, 2024 between the Varsity Girls and Varsity Boys Basketball games. There will be a reception for all the inductees and their immediate family members from 5:00-6:30pm in the high school cafeteria (prior to the induction ceremony). After the presentation, the cafeteria will be open to the public for everyone to congratulate the class of 2024.
