Learning From the Past

Ninety Corunna High School students and eight adult chaperones traveled to the Holocaust Memorial Center in Farmington Hills, MI. They all experienced a small-group docent-led tour for 90 minutes and then were able to meet and listen to Holocaust survivor, Mrs. Rae Nachbar. Nachbar survived the Holocaust with her four siblings and parents, but her parents were murdered one year after the end of WWII by a group of thieves during immigration. Students extended their learning of the Holocaust Literature class by attending. Those who are traveling to Europe in the summer of 2020 also were invited to attend since they will be touring Central Europe and will study the Holocaust while there.
