Corunna Public Schools

Owosso Argus Press, 7-15-1964 Corunna Superintendent Ray Dennis points out where the new Nellie Reed Elementary School will be constructed at Vernon as Mrs. Nellie Reed, principal of the school and a teacher there for 41 years, prepares to break ground Tuesday morning.  Others at the ceremony are left to right: Gayle Jones, treasurer of the former Vernon Board of Education; Mrs. Nancy Lewis, secretary of the former Vernon board and Maurice VanOs, superintendent for Baker and VanderVeen Co. of Grand Rapids, the general contractor for the Corunna school building program.  The razing of part of the old school in the background, which is close to 70 years old, will begin soon.
