Happy Saturday to our CAVS of the week!

Carlie Buehler, a kindergarten student in Mrs. Foster's classroom at Nellie Reed Elementary, has earned the prestigious honor of being recognized by the Michigan Reading Association. Mrs. Foster submitted Carlie's writing in a contest for the MRA. Carlie's writing was selected to be published in the 2020 edition of the Kaleidoscope publication. The MRA celebrates the accomplishment of young authors by showcasing their voices, insights, and skills as they are welcomed into a statewide community of writers.
Carlie loves to write and Mrs. Foster felt that this would be a great way to inspire her to continue to love writing. Mrs. Foster wanted to give her an opportunity that she would remember as she grows up to encourage her to always follow her dreams.
Selecting the writing pieces for this publication is a difficult task. Each year, teachers from across Michigan submit the work of eager writers for review and acceptance by representatives of the Michigan Reading Association. The stories, poetry, and artwork submitted to this edition of Kaleidoscope represent the work of extraordinary young writers and their supportive teachers.
Students from different school districts have earned the prestigious honor of being recognized by the Michigan Reading Association as outstanding young authors and poets. Young authors, family members, teachers, and principals gather to honor students' writing submissions to the annual state-wide Kaleidoscope Young Authors competition. Carlie's family and Mrs. Foster will be attending the Michigan Reading Association's annual conference for the author's luncheon in her honor on Sunday, March 15 at 11:30 AM at the Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center in Detroit.
