Fire Safety

Elsa Meyer Elementary first grade students learned valuable lessons about fire safety and prevention from the Corunna Caledonia Fire Department.  Students were able to see the equipment used by fire personnel, practice how to direct the stream of water from a fire hose into a house window, and what it looks and sounds like if someone was trying to rescue them from possible fire danger.  Students learned the importance of having a family plan for evacuation and a place to meet up if there was a fire.   These classroom visits are just one more example of our community reaching out and assisting children. The lessons give children the opportunity to see and learn in a calm state about fire safety, so they are better equipped to handle emergency situations, should they arise.
