June Employee of the Month

Lesley Brieger is a fourth-grade teacher at Corunna Middle School.   She was first hired December 2002 as a substitute and August 2004 became a teacher. “It is so hard to believe that 18 years as a teacher for Corunna Public Schools has gone by so quickly.  I had no idea then that my student teaching placement, all those years ago, would have led me to so many wonderful friends, amazing students, and fantastic families.  I have enjoyed every second of it,” said Lesley.

“Something that may surprise you about me is that as shy as I am and dislike being in front of people, I was a cheerleader for four years in high school,”  said Lesley.

Lesley said, “My favorite best day is always Corunna High School graduation day.  I love going every year and getting the chance to take part in something so special.  I love seeing all my previous students walk across the stage and receive their diplomas.  Getting the opportunity to celebrate with them and their families and give them one last sendoff is so rewarding,” said Lesley.

Lesley said, “I have three things on my bucket list, meet Laura LeBoutillier from “Garden Answer”, take an Alaskan cruise, and travel to Hawaii.”

“One memory I will always carry with me  and cherish is Young Authors’ Day at Nellie Reed. It was a wonderful day to celebrate our youngest authors.  The staff always made the day special,” said Lesley.

“One thing that sets Corunna apart from other districts is that we never take for granted the importance of our students and making sure they feel like they belong,” said Lesley.

Lesley said, “The one person that most positively influenced me was my grandma.  She was strong, independent, and a hard worker who always put others first.” In her spare time, Lesley said, “I enjoy gardening, cooking, and spending time with family and friends.”
