It was a great night to be a Cavalier!
Our Employee (Erika Eiseler) and Volunteer of the Month (Carl Trimble) were honored during the April Board meeting. Also, we took a fun picture with our Board of Education members (President Jennifer Strauch, Vice President Sara Beldyga, Secretary Ashley Rathbun, Treasurer Jeff Riley and Trustees Dennis Braid, Jamie Nichols, and Joe Zdunic).

🆀 Why do we need a Cavalier Event Center?

🆀 Why do we need a Cavalier Event Center?
🅰 When the citizens committee was doing their homework, they found that we need more room for our many youth, MS, and HS athletic teams to practice. Often, our athletes are limited in the time they can practice because we need to set up for band concerts, dances, banquets, and other events. Our youth teams often practice until 9 or 9:30 at night due to limited gym space. Similarly, our drama students at the MS and HS have most of their performances at the Corunna Community Center (McCurdy Park), where we pay the city each time we rent it [roughly $1,500 per use]. Our HS also uses the Lebowsky, which is also more than $1,000 annually. Our 3rd-grade performance similarly pays to host their one-night event. Band concerts, on the other hand, are currently hosted in our gymnasiums. Again, that takes time away from our other programs that need to use the gymnasiums and does not provide the most conducive environment for our students to perform.

Proposal 2 is about creating new opportunities for our students and our community. This proposal would add a Cavalier Event Center at Corunna High School—featuring:
• An auxiliary gym
• A performing arts center
This space would expand opportunities for athletics, fine arts, and community events—giving our students a place to shine and our community a place to gather. If approved, this proposal would involve an estimated 1.50 mill increase, which, for a home valued at $120,000, would be about $1.88 per week.

May 5, 2026 Bond

One of the things that’s different about a school bond is this: You know exactly where your money is going. Every project is clearly outlined. Every improvement is tied directly to what appears on the ballot. And by law, we are held accountable to that.

In fact, bond dollars are some of the most restricted funds we have:
• They cannot be used for salaries or benefits
• They cannot be used for day-to-day operational costs
• They can only be used for the specific facility improvements approved by voter
