Joann Sawyer has been named November Employee of the Month. She was honored during the November 17 Board of Education meeting. Joann is a paraprofessional at Elsa Meyer Elementary and was hired in August of 2018.
“The love and acceptance of children can be seen throughout the classrooms. Corunna is a great place to work! Administration is supportive and caring. Staff go beyond job requirement to do what is best for the children. I enjoy the opportunity to help individual children learn and grow in their abilities,” said Joann.
Joann has three children, Jeff (Lori) Sawyer, Joe (Tami) Sawyer, and Joy Sawyer Graham, along with several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jason Rivest- Owner and Operator of Culver’s Owosso has been named November Volunteer of the Month. Jason was honored during the November 17 Board of Education meeting. Jason and Culver’s Owosso are tremendous partners with Corunna Public Schools, allowing the district to have fundraiser nights for a variety of groups.
“I personally attended Corunna Public Schools for all my life (K-12) and graduated in 2000. It is my pleasure that I now can support the school and community in a variety of ways. We started working with the schools early in the business by offering share night fundraisers, donating sports balls to the elementary school, and providing a student success program that offers rewards to students for a variety of achievements,” said Jason.
Jason said, “My best experiences are the share night fundraisers that we do for the different student groups. Corunna has some of the best student and parent volunteers that come into the restaurant and work the events. They clean the dining rooms, run food to the guests, and thank them for the support. We especially enjoy the special relationship we have with the FFA!”

Jason and his wife, Ashley (also a Corunna grad), have three children, Max 9th grade, daughters, Hailey 4th grade, and Lily 3 years old.
