Posting POSITION Corunna Public Schools is looking for a Lead Preschool Teacher. We are looking to hire only the best. JOB DESCRIPTION Plan and implement a full day and/or half day inclusive preschool based on the C4L curriculum model. Responsibilities will include all planning and supervision of children within the inclusive classrooms. Additional responsibilities include conducting student and program evaluations, home visits, parent conferences and family activities, etc… as required by the Coordinator. JOB / DISTRICT / COMMUNITY HIGHLIGHTS Corunna Public Schools is looking for the best Lead Preschool Teacher available. Our district lives our mission statement of preparing an unprecedented number of students to be college and/or career ready on a daily basis. Our district is known for offering quality education in a small-town environment with the amenities of a larger community (our district buildings are five minutes away from Applebee’s, Culver’s, Meijer, Walmart, etc.). Our county’s cost of living is incredibly low. We are a class “B” school (around 130 students per grade level) with a reputation for higher standards; as a result, nearly 40% of our students are school of choice. We have the only inclusive preschool in the county. Our school is the community “hub” and Homecoming is still a big deal in our small town, which is the county seat. Our community is incredibly supportive of our district as well. We have high-achieving athletic teams, and award-winning extra-curricular programs.Despite having nearly 40% of students coming to us via school of choice, our constituents passed a nearly $17 million bond a few years ago to upgrade our buildings and two more in 2021, ($7 million). We also were recently fortunate to have earned a $123,000 Michigan State Police competitive grant to upgrade security features in our buildings. First district in the state to have an on-site health clinic for employees, (free prescriptions) coming during the fall of 2021. QUALIFICATIONS Minimum BA in Early Childhood Education or willingness to actively pursue credential Teacher certification with Early Childhood Endorsement preferred Experience working with groups of children Cheerful, mature, flexible, caring attitude Willingness to devote extra time, as needed, for meetings, inservices and parent/student programs Experience working cooperatively as a team member Regular and reliable attendance is required DEADLINE Until filled

Fellow Cavaliers, I am communicating with you this morning to let you know that the Board of Education accepted my recommendation last night for there to be no school next Monday (November 22) and Tuesday (November 23). Like most other schools in our county, we are continuing to deal with the constraints and number of positive cases and quarantine requirements (staff and students) and trying to ensure everyone’s health and well-being. I am meeting with administrators this morning to finalize the logistics (childcare, food distribution, etc.) and will send out more detailed information later today. Today was a special day at Corunna High School, as we welcomed a few of America’s true heroes. It was Veterans Day and we were honored to show our appreciation to many veterans who showed up to thank them for their service. We were also grateful for the attendance of the Director of the Michigan Veterans Trust Fund Lindell Holm from Governor Whitmer’s office, State Senator Tom Barrett, Representative Ben Frederick, Corunna City Manager Joe Sawyer, City Mayor Chuck Kerridge and Councilman Brian DeLorge. We officially dedicated our Wall of Honor, highlighted by 103-year-old WWII Veteran Irene Hosking doing the ribbon-cutting honors. The Wall of Honor features Corunna High School graduates who served in our military. There are some names on that Wall of Honor that are deserving of special recognition. The ones on the wall with a gold tag are those Corunna High School graduates who made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their life while serving our country in the armed forces. It is important our students hear those names and recognize their sacrifice.
