Students in Lauren Darling's kindergarten classroom at Elsa Meyer Elementary have been studying the life cycle and anatomy of bees. It is important for young students to study these unique pollinators and what they provide for us.

Students in Elie Gustafson's kindergarten classroom at Elsa Meyer Elementary are shown enjoying free time. Unstructured play allows children the freedom to explore, create, and discover. It fosters cognitive development while boosting physical development and social and emotional development. It also looks really fun!

Sergeant Clay Reeves
In Amanda Danek’s Corunna High School History through Films class, students have been watching Letters from Iwo Jima. They learned about a local military hero, Sergeant Clay Reeves. He was fighting on Iwo Jima the day the historical picture of the American flag being raised. Recently, the Shiawassee County Veterans Affair Office was named after him. Thank you to Sergeant Clay Reeves, his family, especially his grandson Zach Reeves (who also has served as a Marine overseas), for sharing this with the class. After the video, students wrote thank you cards to local veterans, as pictured.

Fellow Cavaliers,
I wanted to send a quick update regarding tonight’s Playoff Football game and parking… Due to the amount of rain we received on Wednesday night, we will have limited parking available in our overflow/grass parking areas. We have used CAUTION tape, and marked with signs the areas that are too wet to park in. We will have parking attendants on hand to help direct vehicles.
We encourage spectators to utilize parking in the High School parking lots, as well as the parking lot at the tennis courts. The last resort would be to park legally on side streets, the Corunna Central office parking lot, or other legal areas in the downtown area.
It’s a nice night for a walk! 😊
Lastly, a reminder the gates will open at 5:30 pm. Tickets are $9 each and must be purchased on GoFan. We look forward to a great night of High School Playoff Football! GO CAVS!!!!!!
Respectfully,
Mr. Fattal

Thank you for your service!

Thank You Veterans!

November Volunteer of the Month
Brenda Vowell has been named the November Volunteer of the Month. Brenda is the vice president of the Corunna Athletic Club. She started volunteering in 2008 by helping as a teacher’s aide in her daughter’s kindergarten class and taking tickets at the home football games.
“It truly is Great to be Gold! As a volunteer for the Corunna Public Schools, I enjoy being part of a community that prides itself on supporting, educating, and nurturing the next generation,” said Brenda.
Brenda said, “One memory I have is more of an experience. On several occasions, I have experienced the “Corunna Spirit”. It’s when you walk into a game or event, and you can feel the support and excitement of the community. These proud moments of family and friends coming together are something you can never forget.”
“Three words that I would use to describe a true Cavalier are, dedicated, empowering, and golden (successful),” said Brenda.
Brenda and her husband, Sam, have two children, Allyson and Logan.
In her spare time, Brenda enjoys photography, scrapbooking, family game/movie nights, Corunna Cavalier sporting events and walks on the beach (lighthouses).
